Mortgage Compare Plus
Mortgage Compare Plus was founded in 2016 by Steve Keramidas. We have opened our doors as a start up business, our aim being to make home ownership affordable and accessible to the everyday Australian.
Our values and philosophy are a reflection of the socially responsible company we aspire to be. We are a company which believes in performance with purpose and remain committed to our understanding that our financial position goes hand in hand with our social and charitable responsibility.
The Best Interests Duty, which took effect on 1 January 2021, legally obliges brokers to act in the best interests of their clients. This new law is on top of the National Consumer Credit Protection Act, which already regulates the conduct of brokers.
Mortgage Compare Plus must “prioritise their consumers’ interests” if there’s ever a conflict of interests, according to the legislation.
But while Mortgage Compare Plus have to follow the Best Interests Duty – banks do not. Steve Keramidas must give his client the best possible recommendation from all the lenders on his panel. However, a bank will recommend only its own products, even if there are better alternatives.
Steve acts in your best interests when recommending a home loan, and has a legal obligation to do so. Banks sell you products.
Mortgage Compare Plus is dedicated to giving back not only to their clients but to the local community. A donor of the Monash Children’s Hospital since 2016, Steve has also invested himself in community youth sport programs. Understanding the importance of encouraging children to have an active and fun lifestyle, Mortgage Compare Plus also sponsored the Springvale White Eagles FC, South Springvale Aris FC and currently sponsors Bentleigh Greens FC. Steve also volunteered to coach the junior soccer team at South Springvale Aris Soccer Club.

Steve established Mortgage Compare Plus in 2016 following an accomplished career at the NAB as a Bank Manager for half a decade. He is a FBAA member and credit advisor. It was during his time at NAB in which he identified a need in the market for greater service transparency, whilst providing clients with the benefits of an experienced mortgage broker accredited with all Australian Banks and Financial Institutions.

As a right-hand to Steve, Samantha knows that doing things right the first time creates you more of it down the line. As a senior accounts manager with over 5 years of experience in financial services, her objective is to get your loan approved with minimal fuss. Samantha assists the team with the loan process, by compiling and lodging clients’ loan applications and ensuring loan approvals are achieved quickly and efficiently. She follows up clients' files from the moment they are lodged with the lenders until the loan is settled. She is responsible for managing tasks associated with loans and mortgages. These tasks include data entry, loan application verification, background and credit checks, communicating with applicants and preparing loan applications for submission to underwriters. She ensures that all required documentation and signatures are in place prior to submitting the loan for approval. Samantha also deals with real estate agents and solicitors/conveyancers, buyers, homebuilders, and all others who are involved with the home-buying process. She works closely with Steve, appraisers, underwriters, and others involved in the loan process to ensure best outcomes for all our clients.
